Method

Two clearly named mass percentages

Relative to base ingredients divides salt mass by base mass. Of total mixture mass divides salt mass by the combined base and salt mass.

Percent notation follows the NIST Guide to the SI, Chapter 7.

Worked example

With 1,000 g of base ingredients and 20 g of salt, the result is 2 percent relative to the base ingredients and about 1.96 percent of the total mixture mass.
